66th Shoot

For this shoot i looked into the area around the Ikon gallery in Birmingham, I chose this place as it has a really interesting contemporary art theme around the area. This is interesting to me because it was just outside this gallery that has been growing in popularity for the past few years with many internationally known artist's displaying work here every year.

65th Shoot

I noticed that a group of skater's would practise at an unfinished park near my area almost every weekend (considering the weather was good). I used to skate when I was much younger and although the practise died the love for the sport did not, probably due to the fun memories I had being in that sort of community. I did struggle to take many good photos at first as it did seem like i was just chasing them around and trying to hard to keep up, after a while I noticed a pattern they took when doing their tricks so I stayed at different places. This helped me set up my positioning as well as I did not have to move constantly which meant I could focus on the skater and on the background with much more ease

64th Shoot

There was a strong fog around Birmingham that was caused by the quick change in whether that seemed to go on all night before. I took this as an opportunity to walk around the city again and me being me well I couldn't possibly leave without my camera. The lighting was much better than what I thought and the only complaint was probably the cold hand's I got from frosty conditions. The photos turned out better than what I expected, I think the whole shoot in general had this eery sort of feel with the city looking abandoned in a way.

63rd Shoot

Today we had a gallery opening in our college and I was one of the artist's to have work on display, if you can remember the string project from a few weeks back. We had to have our work changed slightly so that it would fit in with the white box sort of theme the curator's were going for. The process was interesting as we never thought of how our piece woud look like in just the one colour and to be fair it did look well with the rest of the work being put up.

62nd Shoot

Tonight's trip around Birmingham may seems a little simular and that is because I have been teaching my friend a few thing's about the camera he has acquired. We decided to go out into the city to practise and I showed him how to use his camera while using my photos as an example.

61st Shoot

For my project in fine art I was researching Bill Viola and his photography work in specific which is what inspired me for todays shoot. I say it was a shoot but really scanning is more appropriate, after thinking of ways to use his type of theme I used a scanner from my printer to get the desired effect. You could say this is cheating but I would refer to it as improvising in a way and to be fair the outcome did surprise me in the distortion effect it has.

60th Shoot

I practise life drawing every week in my college with a group of people, this help's me with figurative drawing and enables me to see the human form in different ways. When I say a different way I am referring to the shape and tone of a person becomes the primary feature I don't look at that person as a human but rather a collage of shapes and tones. With practise this becomes easier and you are more likely to see people on a different way, I see people as a reflection of light when I draw them.

59th Shoot

Protester's had gathered outside the new street station today in favour of freeing several war criminal's that are being being held by the government. I have never experienced anything like this first hand and i must admit I was shocked by how organised the event was. The men in the green jacket's had been keeping people on the sidewalk while making sure bystanders were not directly involved and generally made sure everyone was safe while keeping the protest peaceful.

58th Shoot

I have mentioned the majority of the exhibitions that have been curated in my year and the last one ironically is my groups. We had put plenty of effort into bringing this show to the standard it was at and i must say although we did not have a big audience, our audience had the must fun. the whole exhibition was an interactive show where the visitor's could play around with the work and switch some of the work's around as they please. At the end we were left with a bit of a mess and smiles all around reliefed that our hard work and effort had finally paid off.

57th Shoot

I wanted to take a walk on my own around the city centre tonight and reflect on some of the practise's I have gotten into. This is my main way of recreation as it provides me with something to keep be busy when i am alone and a chance to take some quick & fun snaps. I hope you enjoy these images and maybe reflect a part of me and what I enjoy to do sometimes.

56th Shoot

There I was at the last exhibition today before mine and i wanted to bring some of the work into my blog simply because i thought it had a great sense of style with the lighting an general setup being at a professional level. The group who curated the show had some graffiti artist's setup a piece live while the audience watched, this added a great deal of interest in the show as we all watched the artist's at there trade.

55th Shoot

Due to a rainy afternoon I came to the decision to stray close to my camera and not get it wet as I would have been outside for the must part. This meant I had a limit of the area I could actually reach and i decided to shoot around the places I have before except try and make it a bit different in composition.

54th Shoot

Because i was coming home a bit late from school I took it as an opportunity to take some photo's before it was too late. I took some photos on my way home which happen's to be a walk across the city centre,  this was the plan but I ended up taking a tour around Birmingham. The places I took an interest in were the fountain and other historic building's and artwork'd around the second city.

53rd Shoot

The focus on this shoot was afterlife and I thought photo' like these which were inspired by a previous shoot would make the perfect match. Because my exposure was not too long I thought there would be no point in taking a tripod but I could not hav been more wrong. Although the blur is not too bad in must part's I constantly thought it could be better despite not having a tripod, I did however learn an important yet always forgot lesson "always come prepared".

52nd Shoot

As my curation group are nearing the end and starting to build our show, we have been busy gaining some more material for the show. Due to our project being centred around more than 2 artist's we have been busy with getting ready for invitation's for people as well as poster's being spread around campus.

51st Shoot

I was making some pieces of work with ink and decided to photograph and critique it, since it went so well last time and I thought you would enjoy seeing more of my work. As for now I am experimenting for a new practise so I am pretty much just throwing paint about hoping it will do something interesting. I also stopped round to one of the curation groups show as I had missed it on the opening due to some medical dilema's.
